A REQUEST FROM DIVEHEART

Dear Friends of Diveheart....

I hope the new year is bringing joy, hope and prosperity to you and yours.... Diveheart is growing like gangbusters.....and as a result.....we're experiencing the associated growing pains. Training and travel has taken it's toll on current Diveheart gear....here is a wishlist of things Diveheart needs.........used, operating gear would be wonderful......of course we would never turn down NEW!!!....

ITEMS NEEDED:

1. Polar fleeces......Paraplegic and other disabled divers can get into fleeces much, much easier than fighting with neoprene......imagine putting on a full length rubber suite and not being able to move your legs....or an arm.......and they need the wetsuits to protect skin and for thermo-regulation...

2. Boots, Warm water gloves, Masks & Fins....Protection is imperative ....an injury on a disabled diver can go unnoticed until their body has a negative reaction....so we keep them covered......fins are nice if they have some leg movement.....then they're just like all the other divers with fins......used gear is great....

3. Regs, gauges & weight integrated BCs...as long as they're functional and safe ...it matters not what brand or style....weight integrated BCs really make the weighting issue much easier for someone who's lower body is atrophied and unable to support a weight belt.

4. Ankle weights & clip on weights....you have to be creative when weighting a disabled diver with one arm or no legs .....we use everything we can.....including duct tape, tie wraps and bungi cords.....

On the morning of Thursday, April 10, 2003 "The Straits of Mackinac" was towed from its mooring on Chicago's Calumet River into Lake Michigan and was sunk just north of the city. "The Straits of Mackinac" is a spectacular, premier dive destination and attraction in the Chicagoland area.
